Patient & Family Resources
Welcome to the Nebraska Health Information Initiative
Here you’ll find information about who we are, the importance of a shared medical information system, and most importantly, how this all benefits you.
So, what IS NEHII? In a nutshell, NEHII securely shares your health information among your doctors, clinic physicians, pharmicists, emergency room doctors, etc. By sharing this information, your family doctor knows if you’ve already had lab work done, the walk-in clinic knows what medications you may be taking, your pharmacist can spot potential medication conflicts, and when seconds matter most, the ER doctor can view all your records to determine the best emergency care—no matter what part of the state you’re in.
And here’s the best part – participation in NEHII is absolutely free to you! Plus, you don’t have to do a thing to join…If your doctor or healthcare provider is a participant of NEHII, you’re already “opted in”.
All this adds up to better and more affordable healthcare for you, wherever you go.
How secure is my information?
The privacy and security of patient health records is a real concern for consumers. NEHII ensures your data is protected. We insure your information is:
- Safe and Confidential
- Tracked and Audited
NEHII complies with HIPAA rules, as do NEHII participants. Protecting the privacy and security of health information is important to NEHII and its participants. Health information is kept secure using many technical safeguards and administrative policies and procedures. Patient health information is only available to your treating provider that has been granted access. Patient health information accessed on the system can be tracked for auditing purposes to ensure your privacy is protected.
