Dr. Michael Westcott has assumed the role of President of the NeHII Board of Directors. The transition from Dr. Harris Frankel took place on February 21, 2014 with a vote by the NeHII Board of Directors. The NeHII Executive Committee made the recommendation to the Board of Directors as they felt it was critical to have the position remain with a physician at the helm of the state-wide health information exchange.
Dr. Michael Westcott has served as Chief Medical Information Officer for Alegent Creighton Health in Omaha for the past ten years. He currently serves as the Regional Chief Medical Informatics Officer for Catholic Health Initiatives. Dr. Westcott is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has served as Co-Chair of the NeHII HIE Advisory Council and as a member of the NeHII Executive Committee prior to accepting the role as President of the Board. He too was involved in the early beginnings of the health information exchange from 2005. “I am very much looking forward to continuing the terrific work that has been done under Dr. Frankel’s excellent leadership the past several years. We will continue to enhance NeHII to make it even more useful to Nebraska physicians and providers and thereby contribute to the quality and safety of patient care for all patients participating in NeHII,” said Dr. Michael Westcott.
Under the leadership of Dr. Westcott, NeHII will continue to achieve success and will continue to be recognized as a national leader in the exchange of health care information.
